V9259. I wanted to make this for a while, but I could not find the perfect fabric. I kept swaying from a knit to a twill…knit or twill? But then I went to my go-to fabric when I am indecisive – BROADCLOTH!! It is very inexpensive to use, it lasts a long time, and it looks good (if the project is a success). However, if the project isn’t a success I won’t feel like I “wasted” any money (it is $1.99 a yard when JoAnn’s has doorbuster sales).
Finally, I decided to color block. For the month of September I am going to color block a lot of pieces. It sounds easy, but for the couple of things I made so far, I was amazed at how long it took me to DECIDE what colors to put together, and where to place them. I even studied a color wheel to help determine which colors complement each other the best.
Thank goodness my sorority already figured one color combo out – Pink and Green.
I did make a huge modification!! Since I cut the pants first, once I sewed them together (before attaching to the halter bodice), I loved them so much I wanted t keep them as pants. So, I added a facing to the waistline, and did NOT attach it to the halter bodice top. Then, when I put together the bodice, I used velcro as the closure for the back.
So yes, this is SEPARATES!!! And I can wear each piece any time I want to.
