M7753

M7753 – Can you believe this fabric is on clearance at Hobby Lobby for $2/yard? That’s right, and there is tons of it. I went to four stores and they all had nearly full bolts. I bet people didn’t buy it because it is so sheer. I worked around that!

I wanted to make this top for a while. However, I was inspired by this fabric to make a full, flowy dress. I cut out the bodice then continued cutting at a diagonal angle once I got past the waistline.

Another cool thing I did was made the sleeve detachable. Yes!! I attached a 5″ string to the sleeve and another to the side of the dress, so it can be tied on. In the pictures I show it with two sleeves, and a few with one sleeve.

Lastly, I didn’t have enough fabric to make a double ruffle. Turning this into a dress used the majority of the 4 yards I purchased. I ended up only making a single ruffle.

I am wearing a unitard bodysuit under this dress, so it does not appear to be sheer at all. I also paired it with a 1.2″ elastic belt to cinch it to the waist (in a few pics).
